چکیده

Abstract Althought safflower is a tolerant crop against many environmental stresses, but its yield and performance reduce under stress. The aim of this experiment was to investigate the effect silicon (Si) application on possibility increasing salinity resistance related mechanisms in safflower. A greenhouse conducted effects Si spraying (0, 1.5 2.5 mM) plants grown salt stress condition (non-saline 10 dS m ?1 ). Salinity reduced seedling emergence percent rate, growth parameters disrupted ion uptake increased time specifc leaf weight. Spraying plant height, fresh dry weight, area, relative water content (RWC), potassium, calcium content, while sodium absorption decreased. As result, K + /Na Ca 2+ ratios were increased. Elevated contents indicate an enhanced selectivity following may increase discrimination Na . Treatment with mM showed most positive measured traits. Decrement area ratio indicates more severe compared biomass production. On other hand, specific weight non-stress conditions, which revalues expansion. Improvement RWC reason for icrease Data shows that especialy can damage

Effect of Salinity Stress and Exogenously Applied Methyl Jasmonate on Growth and Physiological Traits of Two Carthamus tinctorius Varieties

Salinity stress is one of the main limiting factors for optimum agricultural productivity of safflower, Carthamus tinctorius L., in arid and semi-arid regions. It could leads to significant changes in plant biochemical, physiological, and growth traits. Salinity induced endogenous rise in jasmonic acid and its methyl esters (MeJA) has been reported. In the present study, effects of salinity str...

Effect of Silicon on Growth and Ornamental Traits of Salt-stressed Calendula (Calendula officinalis L.)

A pot experiment was carried out to determine the effect of foliage spraying of silicon (Si) on growth and ornamental characteristics of calendula grown under salt stress and greenhouse conditions. A factorial experiment based on completely randomized design was conducted with 3 levels of Si (0, 50 and 100 mg/l) and 3 levels of NaCl (0, 100 and 200 mM) with 4 replications. At flowering stage, S...
